Each fall, the coaching staff puts together a small and very exclusive list of names of all the walk-ons who have put it all on the line. They are the unheralded players that show up each day and put their noses to the grindstone without a thought about being recognized for their efforts.

They play because they love the sport of football and couldn’t imagine being anywhere but fulfilling their dreams. These chosen few join the ranks of All-Americans, NFL players, fathers and sons who live as Husker legends in a club that few will enter.

Today, Mike Riley and his staff chose seven names from that list to recognize for the countless hours of personal sacrifice that they have put into the Nebraska football program. These names embody what it means to be a Cornhusker and will never be forgotten.

Congratulations to the following young men who donated their time, blood, sweat and tears as they are awarded full football scholarships to the University of Nebraska:

Cole Conrad – Junior Offensive Linemen; Fremont, Nebraska

Luke McNitt – Senior fullback; Kearney, Nebraska

Tyler Hoppes – Senior Tight End; Lincoln, Nebraska

Connor Ketter – Senior Tight End; Norfolk, Nebraska

Gabe Rahn – Senior Wide Receiver; LeMars, Iowa

Brett Classen – Senior Wide Receiver; Medina, Minnesota

From all of us at Husker Hype, well done and Go Big Red!
