Husker lose key commit

In speculation that has been swirling for months, touted 2018 cornerback commit Brendan “Bookie” Radley-Hiles de-committed from Nebraska on Halloween evening. Considered one of the best recruits in the nation, Bookie had been one of the longest Husker commits in the class and helped peer recruit several other players.

With all of the rumors surrounding Mike Riley at Nebraska, Bookies de-commitment isn’t a huge surprise as he is very connected to the coaching staff. It’s understandable that any commit is going to want to play for a coach who is going to be around for their whole career and with fans clamoring for Scott Frost to return from UCF this is an understandable loss.

The Huskers will need to try and hold onto the rest of their recruiting class at this point as several others have taken visits elsewhere under to ensure they had contingency plans in case Riley and his staff aren’t retained at the end of the season.

From a program perspective, this is a huge loss for the Huskers as they have a need for cornerbacks who can come in and contribute right away next season. Nebraska will try to find a suitable replacement for him as they work to close the season out as strong as possible under the circumstances.

Watch for Bookie to give a serious look at Oklahoma, Clemson, and UCLA now that he’s opened things back up.
