Official Visitors – Rutgers

Welcome back to your periodic official update! To review, this articles serves as a means to update fans on the current number of official visits used, and who will be visiting for the upcoming home game.

I’ll also be breaking down who has visited in Mike Riley’s previous years, as well as the commitments from said visitors.

This week we will be focusing on week 4 of the regular season for 2015, 2016, and 2017.

Week 4: Southern Miss played Nebraska in Lincoln on September 26th, and Nebraska hosted only one official visitor that weekend.

  • Jordan Elliott – DT

Jordan would later commit to Michigan but then ended up signing with Texas when it was all said and done.

Official visit usage counter: 8

Week 4: No visitors – Nebraska traveled to Evanston, IL to play Northwestern

Official visit usage counter: 18

Week 4: Nebraska, reeling from a stunning loss to Northern Illinois at home, has an energized Rutgers team to play this weekend. The Scarlet Knights are fresh off a 65-0 drubbing of FCS opponent Morgan State. While that’s not an impressive opponent, the win has surely inflated their confidence.

The one Nebraska lean out of these visitors, Christian Tutt, will be making his 2nd trip to Lincoln this weekend. Tutt participated in Nebraska’s Friday night LIghts camp last June and came away very impressed with the coaching staff.

Tutt has received a lot of crystal ball predictions to Nebraska, but I anticipate him using all 5 of his official visits before making a decision.

One of the most intriguing targets out of the bunch is Jalen Redmond who is currently committed to Oklahoma. The Huskers have been after Redmond for quite some time and he’s at the top of their “most wanted” board for the Big Red.

While Redmond has a good relationship with coach Bray and the staff it will be extremely difficult take getting to back off his Oklahoma commitment with all of their recent success.

In summary, the number of official visitors (and subsequent commitments later in the season) through week 4 of Mike Riley’s first three seasons are as follows:

2015: 8 officials (3 signees)

2016: 18 officials (9 signees)

2017: 7 officials*

*subject to change based on surprise officials or updates
