Braxton Clark locks in commitment with Husker coaching staff on Sunday
While most football fans were watching the NFC/AFC title games this weekend the Husker coaching staff was in Florida visiting with Orlando cornerback Braxton Clark. Standing at 6’3″ and 180lbs, Clark has the size and speed the coaching staff are looking to develop at the collegiate level.
Clark is the 19th commitment for the Huskers in 2018 and according to 247 sports brings the Cornhusker’s closer to cracking the top-25 class ranking at #26.
Frost brought out the big guns on Sunday, taking the majority of the Husker staff to Orlando to do an in-home visit with Clark and seal the deal. After their visit, Clark decided to shut his recruitment down and commit to the Big Red.
The news is a relief for Husker fans as they enter this fall with only a handful of eligible cornerbacks on the roster. The staff will continue to push for another cornerback in this class as Clark will make the 6th cornerback on the roster this fall which is 2-3 less than what a staff would like to see.
Clark’s size and ball skills should serve him well at the next level as he continues to develop as a player. He does a terrific job sticking with wide receivers and flashes good ball skills when going up for the ball. While he’s a tall cornerback, he has quick feet and does a good job of flipping his hips to run alongside wide receivers.
With Clark on board, the Huskers turn their attention to California offensive lineman Jarrett Bell tomorrow. Bell recently visited Nebraska and was in Tempe, AZ last weekend visiting the Sun Devils. He is scheduled to announce his commitment tomorrow and coach Frost should be in-home before Bell announces his decision.
